Linux System Administrator

Manage, secure, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications and services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience administering Linux servers in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems including Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, CentOS, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience managing SSH, users, groups, file permissions, and system security.
  • Experience configuring networking services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Bash scripting and Linux automation.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining web servers, databases, and application servers.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux performance, storage, networking, and system failures.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud infrastructure.
  • Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Linux administration experience supporting enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience deploying and managing Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience managing PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or Redis.
  • Experience with monitoring platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, or ELK Stack.
  • Experience implementing Linux hardening based on CIS Benchmarks or security best practices.
  • Knowledge of SELinux, AppArmor, Fail2Ban, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience managing cloud-based Linux servers on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience supporting large-scale Linux environments with hundreds or thousands of servers.

We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications and services. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining production Linux systems, ensuring high availability, improving security, automating routine administration tasks, and supporting engineering teams with reliable infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Linux servers.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, SSH access, and authentication services.
  • Monitor server health, performance, disk usage, and resource utilization.
  • Troubleshoot operating system, hardware, storage, and networking issues.
  • Configure and maintain Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, or other application services.
  • Perform operating system patching and security updates.
  • Automate routine administration tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Configure backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implement system hardening and security best practices.
  • Manage DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewall rules, and network services.
  • Maintain storage systems, RAID configurations, and filesystem integrity.
  • Deploy and maintain Docker containers and supporting services.
  • Support development teams with application deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Document infrastructure, operational procedures, and system configurations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.
  • Continuously improve system reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.
