Machines & VPN Network

SSH Bridge includes a built-in VPN network that lets you securely connect to devices anywhere — even behind firewalls, NATs, or on private networks. No port forwarding or public IPs required.

How It Works

SSH Bridge VPN network creates an encrypted overlay network between your devices. Each device gets a stable IP address (in the 100.64.x.x range) that stays the same regardless of the underlying network.

  1. You add a device from the Machines panel in SSH Bridge
  2. Install the SSH Bridge Network Client on your device
  3. Use the generated auth key to join the device to your network
  4. Your device appears in the Machines list with its VPN IP
  5. Create an SSH host using the VPN IP to connect from anywhere

Why Use Machines?

  • Access local devices remotely — Connect to your home lab, office workstation, or development machine from anywhere
  • No public IP needed — Devices behind NAT or firewalls are reachable through the VPN
  • Encrypted connections — All traffic between devices is encrypted with WireGuard
  • Stable IPs — Each device gets a permanent VPN IP that never changes
  • Cross-platform — Works on Linux, macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, and tablets

Supported Platforms

  • Linux — Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Fedora, Arch, and more
  • macOS — macOS Monterey 12.0 or later
  • Windows — Windows 10 or later
